Angela joined Rennes School of Business in PGE1 after completing two years of preparatory classes in literature. Already drawn to the international cultural sector, she chose to get involved in the student association Well’Come, where she was part of the executive team (alongside a student who is now one of her colleagues).

She then completed an exchange program in Belfast (Northern Ireland), followed by a gap year, before enrolling in the MSc in Creative Project Management and Design, developed in partnership with the European School of Art of Brittany.

It was during these years that Angela launched L’Art-Trotter, her podcast dedicated to professionals working in the cultural sector worldwide.

After graduating, Angela was hired following her final internship by Les Concerts de Poche as a Partnerships Officer. She later joined Universcience – Cité des sciences as an Accessibility Officer, before moving to the National Music Centre (CNM), where she currently works as an Affiliation Officer.

What is your current role?

I currently work at the National Music Centre (CNM), a public industrial and commercial institution whose mission is to support music and entertainment professionals in writing, composition, performance, publishing, production, distribution and promotion, both in France and internationally.

Within the User Pathway Department, my main role is to support music professionals in affiliating with the CNM. This is the first step in their user journey, giving them access to all the services and funding schemes offered by the organisation.

What is your greatest achievement?

My podcast L’Art-Trotter. I thought this student project would end when my studies were over, yet I recently released Season 4.

During my last two years at Rennes School of Business (gap year + MSc), we were in the middle of the Covid period. The cultural sector had come to a standstill, and I was questioning my future and professional direction. I decided to turn this constraint into an opportunity.

By launching the podcast, I was able to discover new careers, refine my professional project, help other students find their path in the international cultural sector, and travel around the world meeting inspiring people, all from home.

What is the value of networking in general? And of the Alumni network in particular?

To me, a network is a space for exchange and shared resources that helps you move forward both professionally and personally. Several guests on my L’Art-Trotter podcast are Alumni who have moved abroad and now work in the cultural sector.

It is important for me to show that after Rennes School of Business, there is not just one single career path.

How do you engage concretely within the Alumni network?

During my years at Rennes SB, I lacked examples of professional careers in the cultural sector. I sometimes felt out of step with other students who were aiming for more traditional career paths.

As an Alumna of Rennes SB, I want to show students that they made the right choice by joining this school if they aspire to work in the cultural field. Whenever possible, I make myself available to exchange with students, on campus, via LinkedIn, or through informal conversations.

A memorable moment or opportunity thanks to the School or the network?

Hosting Alumni on my L’Art-Trotter podcast.

Your best encounter thanks to Rennes School of Business?

Two close friends I still have today, whom I met through the Well’Come student association.

Did you use any Career Services support? What was your experience?

Yes. During my MSc, I had several meetings with the Career Services team to rework my CV and cover letter. The advisor I worked with was incredibly helpful.

What advice would you give to a recent graduate?

Go and meet professionals, reach out to them. Why do you think you are reading my profile today? People enjoy talking about themselves, so go for it.

A hidden passion or talent?

Music.

Final word?

If others can do it, why not you?
